MY WEEK IN PHOTOS: AUGUST 26–SEPTEMBER 1, 2019!
Hosted a summer bbq (forgot to season the burgers but other than that…), visited the Cold War Museum, as well as the Star Eco Station to meet all the exotic pets confiscated by the US Fish and Wildlife Service. And eating everything we can at the 626 Night Market.
Enjoy!
Wish I could eat peaches every sad desk lunch.
Went to a Social Media Club event with Tristan to learn about community management.
Sweet Peanut is still here with us, honored and blessed.
Threw this weirdo little snowman. Kinda into it!
Feels weird to wear blue jeans but here I am
With Mandy and Zach to see a Kate Berlant show on the eastside
Tweedy will find any fig and eat it. Who knew he loved figs so much.
Zach constantly watching Shark Tank
Seemed like a nice night for tacos
Eggs and smoothie for breakfast
Thrift shop #2 for the day, found some outdoor chairs
Washing off everything so people don’t have to sit on spider webs
I keep moving these babies I brought some from pottery last week around, I think I like them here…
Chicken wings going into the oven
Marie to the rescue, offering her spam musubi rolling skills
Washing and cutting all the hamburger toppings
Enjoying the Zach grill lighting experience
Test burger actually cooked! Our test a few weekends ago actually taught us something…use more charcoal.
Tristan’s beautiful macaroni salad and Zach getting more burgers going
Tried this place out, turns out they just make salads, I guess that’s cool
Wende Museum of the Cold War, showing an exhibition about television in Eastern Europe.
I enjoyed the section about children’s TV during the Soviet era

All in all, great first visit to the Wende
We were nearby and finally decided to stop by Star Eco Station. I passed by the building so many times before and was always so curious.
“The STAR Eco Station is an environmental science museum, an exotic wildlife rescue center, and a haven for endangered and illegally-trafficked exotic animals confiscated by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. The STAR Eco Station has grown tremendously since it began in 1997!”
Mae West! Was found over 20 years ago with plastic wrapped around her shell, affecting the way her shell was growing. And now she has a permanently indented shell 😦
Display to teach kids about waste and how it goes into the ocean
Exiting the fish area and entering the next series of displays
Lulu is a bobcat that was found by a hiker as a baby and “rescued” accidentally. When the owner took it to the vet, they reported it to Star Eco Station and Lulu has lived here every since. She’s totally used to humans and living with people, so they said that putting her back int he wild would be hard for her without any cat instincts.
This really old fox is really old and another zoo called and asked if they could give him a place to sleep because the other foxes in the pen were annoying him too much. Cuz. He’s OLD and just wants to sleeeeep ahah.
A gator found in a shoebox in a hotel room after a police raid
Learning about how a few of the reptiles got to the Star Eco Station. This turtle was hit by a car and survived!
Back for another year at the 626 Night Market
Cheesey shell wrapped around a soft shell crab
Waiting for the long fries and the sun started to set
The long fries are here! They are truly long!
But they sadly did taste a little lackluster, we think they were blended potato that were piped into a frier and not really the texture of a fry.
Carne asada and jalapenos over a bunch of flamin hot doritos.
And the highlight for me, this ube icecream
At night, all the smoke in the air and the crowds got us good.
Looked at some plants on the way out, and then I bought this Kumamon patch. Another year, we all left SO full and SO sweaty.
Thanks for reading!

A question that you may or may not feel inclined to answer? So! Let’s do it. I invite you to answer in the comments:
Who do you pick in Mario Kart? I’m a Toad.

Much love friends!
I’m always toad, too! Also that really old fox who just wanted to snooze cracked me up. Glad he’s found a peaceful home!

Poor Mae West. Humans can be awful sometimes. I miss seafood already and I’ve only been in North Macedonia a little over a month. I haven’t played Mario Kart in years, but I think I was always Peach or Daisy.
When I was very young, I lived in Germany, and we could actually get East German shows via satellite. I remember some of those children shows!
